This question seems opposite to many peoples’ situations. For complicated reasons (too much to explain here), I did not reapply for benefits when my claim ran out. I was a “regular “ recipient (W2 wage job ended & I originally filed April 2020). After not seeing weeks to certify, I again saw them, so certified as I have always done. To my surprise, even though my claim balance is 0 and my year ran out on April 10, I started receiving payments again. Is this what is supposed to happen, even if you don’t re-file? Or is this an error? Will these monies need to be repaid? Can anyone advise, or does anyone have a way of actually reaching EDD with this question? Thanks so much.

This happened to me too! I ended up certifying bc I was about to hit the deadline date to certify, but I'm really confused and am worried I'm going to have to pay it back because they made a mistake?
I had been in the process of reapplying for benefits bc I thought I was in one of the categories that needed to reapply, but hadn't submitted yet when a new payment appeared and it says I'm "on extension." It says my transaction type was "original certification." Today I got a message from UE saying it was urgent that I reapplied bc my benefits have expired. Not sure if I should reapply or not at this point. I'm so confused.
