Since you have wages from AZ it's correct that you need to apply there. If AZ denies your claim then you can apply to CA for PUA. The reason I say it in that order is because you technically cannot qualify for PUA (1099 unemployment claim) if you qualify for a claim with W2 wages. It seems you do qualify for W2 claim via AZ wages... so until you are denied, you cannot apply for CA PUA. If you do get denied, only then can you apply for CA PUA. I also want to note that currently, the PUA only exists up until September 4, 2021 unless they sign a new stimulus extension.

The ID line is very easy to get through (usually a 1 minute wait). The claims department is a nightmare. Call ID department (also called integrity department) first and see whether or not you are under ID verification. If this is true then move forward with calling this number and asking them to give you the button to upload so you can upload your docs and get it processed. They may also be able to tell you if it's NOT ID related. 8663628854 -- press buttons 1 and 3 after it rings. If it is NOT related to ID, then you unfortunately have to call the main line 800-300-5616

Unemployment is based off a period of time (last 18 months prior to applying). This person sounds like their base period was work that was done in California since they have a CA claim. Once they move, their unemployment benefits should be still CA until that claim expires. Then they can renew a claim in the current state they live if most of their wages are from their new state. This is not considered fraud.

If you know your benefit year is over then yes, a lot of people are pending b/c they hadn't reapplied yet. If you are on PUA specifically, then no you should NOT reapply.

The website is primarily for unemployment questions... not tax or stimulus checks. I don't think it would effect your eligibility though.

I would not apply again... a lot of people did that last year and caused a lot of pending and stuck problems for months. I know calling is the worst thing to recommend, but they don't really give many other choices. Since you got a confirmation number I wouldn't recommend reapplying. The phone lines are better on Wed/Thurs... although still pretty awful.

You can call to let them know, but you don't really switch a claim to another state. You made income in CA and paid into unemployment here, so your claim should be CA for the year. If your claim expires, then you can probably apply in Texas... otherwise if you are in the middle of a claim you need to finish it out. I will also let you know that a lot of people who changed their mailing address do not experience problems. But people who do change their residential address to be out of state causes a lot of issues and pending -- probably because it flags the account for some reason since it's out of state.

You shouldn't have had a new EDD number... you are right that it is odd. Were you able to get in touch with an EDD agent?

1. If your new WBA is lower by $25 or more you can qualify for DNCP (Deferred new claim program) where they will put you on your older claim WBA. They say this on their website, but implementation has not happened for many people 2. Yes there should be no gap in benefits 3. If you send the paper form it will be seen as "duplicate" on your claim status and then say "pending" so it makes no difference 4. They found errors and the ability to file for a new claim should have been resolved April 16. Log in and see if you are able to

It's PEUC

You'd be considered for FED-ED if your claim did not expire... so likely you will not go on FED-ED and continue on PEUC rather. There was a notice on EDD website that said they will get everyone on PEUC by April 17 I would wait until April 18... maybe longer if you are able to (since you know how slow they are even when they set a date). If you don't see anything movement at all it's likely you need to file a new claim.

Where do you see that? It's true that you cannot qualify for both but there are some unique situations. For example - lets say you had a UI claim early on in the year... and then you used up all your weeks... so you'd go to PEUC 13 week extension. Let's say this 13 week extension takes you up to the beginning of November 2020. At this time, PEUC 11 week extension was NOT available (did not get signed until Dec 27, 2020) -- therefore there were no more UI benefits for this person who qualify. So in November, this person would have been considered for FED-ED... but let's say they do not qualify because they didn't meet the requirements (FED-ED eligibility is different). So then -- what's left? PUA. So they are put on PUA in November because there are no other options. The Continued Cares Act got signed December 27, 2020... but implementation of it took a few weeks. So people who were on PUA continued to be on PUA until EDD got it together to implement those 11 weeks of PEUC. Let's say it took them about 3 weeks... so we're in the third week of January and this person who was ORIGINALLY a UI claimant got put on PUA... and now since the new PEUC 11 weeks were available... they will now go back onto PEUC. And that's how someone can be both. Another way to put it is that some programs were not available depending on what timeline you are looking at. This person will likely continue on the PEUC 29 week extension up until September.

A lot of people are reapplying since it's been 1 year since most people applied... so I feel like they are super overwhelmed right now. It could also be that you are switching from an extension to another? Did you exhuast your benefits?

Call bank of america and request to replace your card 1-866-692-9374 If your benefit year ended then you need to reapply. For example - if you applied March 2020, your benefit year will end 1 year later which is March 2021... so you need to reapply if its expired.
