10/8 EDD News Release

Updated: Feb 10, 2021

LWA Updates:

  • EDD wrapping up 4th and 5th week payments

  • Will start issuing sixth and final payments early next week

LWA weeks:

  • 7/25 - 8/1 --- LWA week 1 -- completed

  • 8/2 - 8/8 --- LWA week 2 -- completed

  • 8/9 - 8/15 --- LWA week 3 -- completed

  • 8/16 - 8/22 --- LWA week 4 -- wrapping up

  • 8/23 - 8/29 --- LWA week 5 -- wrapping up

  • 8/30 - 9/5 --- LWA week 6 -- Begin issuing next week

LWA eligibility requirements?

  • Minimum of $100 or more weekly benefit award. If you're weekly benefit award on your main page is less than $100 - you do not qualify. Sorry :(

  • Received payment on claim during the week in question (see above for dates)

  • Must self-attest that you are unemployed/partially unemployed due to disruptions caused by COVID-19

If you made excessive earnings, were fully employed, or were disqualified -- YOU ARE NOT ELIGIBLE

Extensions

All extensions are automatic. Here is a breakdown of all the programs you can qualify for

Regular UI (w2 worker):

- Regular UI: 26 weeks

- PEUC: 13 weeks (AUTOMATIC no application)

- FED-ED: 20 weeks (AUTOMATIC but has different eligibility requirements) -- if you are not eligible, you will be put on PUA

PUA (self-employed/1099 worker):

- PUA: 39 weeks

- FED-ED: 7 weeks

Important things to note about PEUC

  • If you are still within your benefit year (check your main page to see), EDD will automatically file your claim for you.

  • If your benefit year has EXPIRED (again, check main page), EDD will notify that you have to file for a new claim first. If you qualify for a new claim, you will be put on that, if not they will file a PEUC extension on the prior claim.

STIMULUS UPDATE

Trump is postponing passing a stimulus until after the election. Here are a few articles:
